EuroCup Women for the 2016 season has received in recent times most applications from teams.
After last year’s 31 team in the tournament, this time around there are 33 that applied to play in EuroCup Women and one that will play because they lost the EuroLeague Women qualifier.
As a result there will be two qualifiers for the last spots in EuroCup Women – in Western conference between Swiss club Fribourg and Dutch Orange Blizzards, in Eastern – between Latvian club TTT Riga and Austrian Flying Foxes. The qualifiers will be best of two series with games played on October 8 and 15.
The four EuroLeague Women teams that will finish the season in fifth and sixth places will join the EuroCup teams in the third round of knockouts when the 16 playoff teams will be down to four.
Draw for EuroCup Women, EuroLeague Women and EuroBasket Women 2017 qualifiers will take place on Sunday, July 4.
